At 18, I was the proud owner of a used 5 speed Chevy Chevette in faded cherry red…I know, it didn’t quite match the car of my teenage dreams. However, my car made me famous. It quickly captured the nickname of my “Flintstone Mobile”, because after a year, the driver side floor board rotted out leaving a gaping hole for my feet to touch the road. I could literally motorize the vehicle with my running ability just like Fred Flintstone!
This certainly made for interesting travel during the snowy Michigan winters and slushy springs.
It’s been a few years since my son raced into our garage, rifled through the toolbox, pulled out a wrench and announced it was time to shed the training wheels on his bike. Since then, I’ve watched a young boy’s reckless abandon for adventure, powered by his new two wheeled freedom.
Oh, the lessons we can learn about living life beautifully (and building an online business) as we run alongside our children guiding their efforts in learning how to master the balance and skill of the ride.
